Setting up File Types
To set up file types, navigate to 'Components ' > 'Ark Media' and click on the 'Options' button or the 'Configuration' icon. This will take you to the 'Ark Media Configuration' screen
Under the 'File Info' tab, you can set the maximum file size limit, for file uploads, in megabytes. To do this, add a maximum upload size to the 'Maximum Upload Size (MB)' field and save.
You can choose the file types that users are permitted to upload. To do this, remove the file types you do not wish to permit users to upload, from the 'Allowed File Types' list and save.
You can also add allowed file types, that do not appear in the 'Allowed File Types' list. To do this, navigate to 'Custom Allowed File Types and click on the 'Select' button.
You will now see the pop up window below. Add the file extension (e.g. .jpg), the file's MIME type (for system uses) and which folder, you want to restrict it to, here.
To add a .rar arhive package file, for example:
- Enter 'application/x-rar-compressed' in the 'File Mime Type' field > Enter 'rar' in the 'File Extension' field and select 'Documents' from the 'Assign to Folders' dropdown list.
- Click on the 'Save' button.
- Finally click on the 'Save' button in the 'Ark Editor Configuration' screen.
You will now have added a custom allowed file type.
