Setting up Editing Styles 1: Quick

Setting up Editing Styles 1: Quick

In computing, a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor is a system in which content (text and graphics) displayed onscreen during editing appears in a form closely corresponding to its appearance when displayed as a web page. The goal of this section is to do exactly that and bring the styles that are used for text editing (found in your template on the front end of your site) into the editors editing area and available at your users fingertips.

To assist the basic user we have developed an ‘Automatic’ option in which the editor will try to figure out your configuration on the presumption that your template is using a template.css file (which is used in 90% of Joomla templates). When the ‘Automatic’ option is used in the “Select your default template” parameter it will override and set the other editing options to ‘Automatic’.

In most instances this is not perfect as the template.css file may import everything resulting in a long list of styles being populated in the editor's 'Styles' dropdown box. This can impede the users workflow but it’s enough to get you up and running quickly.

For better results you may want to opt for the 'Hybrid' option which is detaield on the next page or for the best results please opt for Creating an editor.css file set options.
