Yes joomla is years to late with image managemant, The things every customer want is easy adding and editing text, images, and blogs and stuff. Images is a pain in the ass with Joomla if you ask me.
My only reason to advise Wordpress to some users it is because of the image management.
I am using the joomunited plugin for the folders in the management and it is a child work to add images.
Ark is making these easy things more easy than you can imagine.
So i bet on the manager of Ark!
Image editing features are now available as of version 1.6.0b.
