I have a site in development in which I am using Ark Editor and have found when trying to edit a k2 item or category in the frontend the editor loads several times inside the k2 edit modal making editing impossible. After made a fresh joomla install only adding gantry and k2. All works good untill installing ark editor. If it helps i am using siteground as my host.

Steps to replicate the issue
New joomla install, also installed gantry 5 w/hydrogen theme, k2 v2.7.0. Tested k2 frontend editing using joomla default editor. With this configuration k2 frontend editing works as expected with no errors in Chrome Console. Installed the latest ark editor 1.7.5 without choosing ark editor as the default frontend editor and retested. Upon retesting I now find errors in Chrome Console and editor keeps reloading multiple times within the k2 edit modal even though it is still using the default editor. Only difference I see in the code is that 2 ark editor scripts have been added, mootools-more-light.js and modal.image2.js. These scripts are loading last, could that be the problem?

Hi, I wanted to add that there is no errors or issues when using JCE. So that is 2 other editors that play nice with K2. Also i had read that another user had a similiar issue and was able to resolve the problem using Jquery Easy. I installed it and tried several configurations but could not fix the issue. The best I could do was get the editor to stop loading inside the modal multiple times but upon trying to save an item or clicking the close button for the k2 modal the site would load in the modal. Is it possible Joomla, Ark editor and k2 each require a different version of jquery? Also want to note I have another site running more or less the same configuration but instead of using Gantry 5 I am using GavickPro. I am having the exact same issue on that site aswell. This has got me stumped which is to bad because I really like the Ark editor and was so excited back when the project started the only problem is most of my sites use K2 so i cant use the ark editor due to the k2 issues.

Hi,

It seems that doing the following code  in Joomla's  system afterDispacth event is enough to cause this issue with K2

$document = JFactory::getDocument();
$docoument->setBase($url);

This is weird as this does not happen with any other component including Joomla's article Manager. This maybe due to the fact that K2 overides Joomla template/layout system competely for the frontend editing view?

Anyway we are looking into this issue.

Kindest Regards

Andrew
