Added mrc file under custom extensions, but does not seem to take.

Used file mime type: application/marc

file extension: mrc

apply to documents

Cannot upload mrc files and manager will not display existing .mrc files under files/documents.

I attempted to upload png files below and they were not identified as such by your system (I kept getting error msgs), so I couldn't upload them.

Hi Bmens

Thank you for your ticket.

Is it the column separated .mrc file you are referring to or the medical file as we are not completely aware of the full details of this file type. We have tried with a test .mrc which was successful, however if you could provide us with a test file that you are experiencing the issue with and the error message that you are getting we can further test this issue for you.

Perhaps a file share site like: or dropbox will allow you to send us a link to your file as we only allow simple files like images on these forms.

Hello Paul,

Here is a sample file.  They are essentially records that can be added to a library catalogue.

'The MRC file type is primarily associated with 'Bibliographic Data Format'. Bibliographic data (Machine-Readable Cataloging records)'

If you are unable to re-create the issue, I may be able to give you temporary backend access to our site.

Hi Beth,

Thanks for the file. This uploads successfully in our test environments. Could you confirm what error you are getting? A "file type not supported" error?

Alternatively could you add your site details to your user profile so that we can investigate further.

Wednesday, 29 July 2015 20:47 BST

I've added site details to my user profile.

Feel free to dig in and test the site media manager. Feel free to test uploading right at the root, just make sure to clean up as you go :)

The username & password will expire in a week.

Hi Beth,

Thanks for granting us access to your site.

When uploading files we use some of Joomla's validation libraries to check the files and there seems to be an issue here because we weren't able to upload any files (even .txt files).

To investigate further could we have FTP access to your site?

Thursday, 30 July 2015 16:57 BST

I'm afraid we can't give FTP access to the site, since it's protected by a firewall.

We can create a zip file with our site contents, and send it to you. Would that work as an alternative?

Hi Beth,

Yes, a zipped back-up will be fine.

Wednesday, 05 August 2015 16:12 BST

Is there an email address, or private way I can share the zip folder with you?

And is there a specific section of the site you'd want to look at? Since these are base files, they include some sensitive information which we'd rather reduce the exposure of?

Hi Beth,

You can email the file package to Please feel free to remove any confidential/sensitive files before hand. What we'd like is the basic Joomla/Ark installation with any 3rd party installed extensions (to check for conflicts) and your configuration & database settings, plus a few of the files you use in the Ark Media.

Hi Beth,

Thanks for the package, we'll get back to you once we've run some more extensive tests.
